DAY 1: Marrakech - Telouet - Ait Benhaddou
Experience the architectural style of southern Morocco with a visit to the Ait Ben Haddou, a world heritage site and the Telouet with all its history. Our trip will begin early from Marrakech where you will be picked up from your hotel. Our journey will take us through the High Atlas Mountains regarded as the largest mountains in North Africa. This will provide a lovely view of nature around the mountains and the valleys surrounding it.
Our journey will take us through the Ounila Valley salt mines, the Kasbah Glaoui and very importantly the Telouet which holds so much history. We will also visit the Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
The Ait-Ben-Haddou village is located in the region of Souss Massa Draa on a hill very close to the river of Ouarzazate. This village was an important stop for traders passing through the significant caravan path through the Sahara. These traders mostly traded in salt, gold and even slaves.
This location was also used to film movies like Jesus of Nazareth and Lawrence of Arabia. This tour will take you around the village to important landscapes and you will get to see the renovations carried out to restore the architecture and supervised by UNESCO.
After the visit to all these landscapes, in the afternoon, we will have lunch at a local restaurant in Ait-Ben-Haddou. A meal you will enjoy while viewing the beautiful Kasbah.
Our tour ends as you will be driven back through the Tizi n’Tichka route to your hotel or destination in Marrakech.
